Please don't share videos or images of autistic children (or adults) having meltdowns. You likely wouldn't want someone exposing your most vulnerable moments without your permission, and autistic people deserve the same respect and privacy. Spread the word. #neurodiversity #autism #autistic

There is no such thing as “mild” autism. If you are autistic, you are disabled. Yes, there is HUGE variability re: how that disability manifests. Almost infinite and complicated and often misunderstood and underestimated variability. But there is no such thing as “mild” autism. #neurodiversity

There is no autism epidemic. There is only better identification of existing autistic people. Anyone claiming otherwise is either ignoring, denying—or does not understand—contemporary autism research, or is selling something. #autism #neurodiversity

I am autistic. Autism is me. It’s who I am. I don’t want to be different. I want to be me. The mask was suffocating me. Autism didn’t cause my mental health issues it was the lack of understanding of self that caused the problems. Now I walk a different path. #Neurodiversity

I'm going to try posting on here more. So what's up! I'm the Washington Bureau Chief at @theindependent.bsky.social. I wrote a book about #Autism and #Neurodiversity and am writing another one. I am fascinated by demographics in politics, particularly when it comes to Latino voters.

As harmful autism disinformation campaigns go, grievance parents‘ attempt to break off “ #profoundAutism” as a separate diagnosis via smearing #neurodiversity advocates is notable—mostly for its spitefulness. Select observations by @embergreen.bsky.social: thinkingautismguide.com/2…. 1/

Vaccines have nothing to do with autism, except in that they help keep autistic kids and adults safe and healthy. Spread the word. Fight the disinformation and ableism. Protect our children, and our public health. #VaccinesWork #autism #neurodiversity
