My #autistic kiddo (6) had a substitute teacher at school this week who she’d never met. Essentially, a blank slate. That sub just came over to tell me how amazing & brilliant my daughter is 😭 I’m so proud of her! She’s worked very hard on her emotional regulation & coping skills.

Among all of the (correct) “autism is not an excuse!” takes, I do want to point out: There is no widespread issue of #autistic people getting away with stuff because of our autism. It wouldn’t work for most of us. It’s only a handful of rich white dudes who even try it.
