DFA forwards US extradition request for Quiboloy to DOJ

The DFA has forwarded to the DOJ the U.S. extradition request for detained religious leader Apollo Quiboloy. Quiboloy is facing sex trafficking and other criminal charges in the U.S. The DOJ will determine whether the request complies with the bilateral extradition treaty and Philippine law. In the Philippines, Quiboloy is also facing separate criminal cases, including qualified human trafficking and child abuse charges. He is currently under government custody. Reacting to the extradition request, Quiboloy’s lawyer Ferdinand Topacio described it as “extremely unfeasible.” Topacio said Quiboloy’s criminal cases before Philippine courts are still ongoing.
