Looking at the volume and surface area of cones with Y11 in #MathsToday. I scribbled a dodgy version of this task on the board when a few pupils were getting confused with the difference between the height and slope of a cone. I've neatened it up here now.

I got to do some #MathsToday 😁 using this lovely task with new leads of A Level Pedagogy Work Groups. If you teach A Level anywhere in England, I would really encourage you to contact your local Maths Hub and join a Work Group for 3 days of brilliant free CPD.

In #MathsToday Yr 2 #AlevelMaths explored modulus functions using this MEI desmos activity. Some good discussions were had and they surprised themselves with how much they could work out. When the lesson ended and they hadn’t quite finished a student told me it was fun and he didn’t want to stop 😀

In #MathsToday Yr 1 #AlevelMaths proved the quadratic formula using an underground maths card sort, did some explorative work on key features of quadratic functions using factorised form and completing the square and then completed DrAustin finding quadratic equations from their graphs.
