In a way, NIGHTFALL (1956) feels like Jacques Tourneur's rebuttal to the cynicism of OUT OF THE PAST (1944). Both films play w/ time, but here it works in the hero's favor. He's vindicated — with the help of both a woman and the "law". Its happy ending is earned. #TheNoirCollective #Nightfall

I haven’t said enough about Burnett Guffey’s beautiful cinematography in NIGHTFALL (1956). His differentiation between after-dark Los Angeles and snowy, sun-drenched Wyoming is vital to selling the film’s brilliantly bifurcated narrative. #TheNoirCollective #Nightfall
