Shoutout to Eugene Joseff for the wonderful jewelry in #Lured. He had apprenticed at an art foundry in his youth and started out in movies by casting metal in his garage, inventing a plating technique that made costume pieces look real and shine without glare on film. #TCMParty #TheNoirCollective

Ball is gorgeously costumed by Elois Jenssen (who later, not surprisingly, worked on “I Love Lucy”). Sometimes, despite the fabulous cinematography by William Daniels (The Naked City, Brute Force), I wish this film had been shot in color ^PG #TCMParty #TheNoirCollective #Lured

CLEARLY Lucille Ball should have played a detective or undercover agent in a series and everyone in Hollywood who missed it are idiots. #Lured #TCMParty #TheNoirCollective

(4/4) From 1947-51, Ball starred with Richard Denning in ‘My Favorite Husband.’ She then reimagined the series for TV, as ‘I Love Lucy,’ and a star was born. Without the confidence & adrenaline that #TheDarkCorner and #Lured provided, fame might never have come her way. #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty
Lucille Ball and Richard Denning record My Favorite Husband in 1950; Lucille Ball and husband Desi Arnaz in the 1954 episode of | Love Lucy, "The Business Manager."

(3/4) Demoralized, Ball accepted a loan-out to Fox for a mystery, #TheDarkCorner. It proved so rewarding that Ball accepted a thriller at UA: #Lured. And buoyed by the chance to *act* again, Ball decided if Hollywood didn’t want her, she’d go somewhere that did: radio. #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty

Hello single-source lighting police interrogation! The cool transparency viewer for that classic horror lighting from below is a brilliant touch too. #Lured #TCMParty #TheNoirCollective

How luminous is Lucy in this movie? You can see the William H. Daniels effect in every shot of her face. Not so much the deep, angular shadows of Garbo, more like the lit-from-within glow he gave Norma Shearer in MARIE ANTOINETTE (1938). #Lured #TCMParty #TheNoirCollective
