Just wanted to add that DP Nicholas Musuraca shots are really effective. Perhaps not as celebrated as his work in "Out of The Past" but he really allows us to feel Norah's desperation.

#TheBlueGardenia was shot in only 20 days but I feel like they could have spent more time working on the script and plug some of the huge plot holes. Maybe others don’t mind as much, but i have difficulty ignoring the blatant flaws, especially in the final couple of reels. #TheNoirCollective

Also, OK, maybe John is a creep for changing her clothes, sure, however, Judy/Madeline is FAKING that she fainted! She is not really unconscious when he is taking her clothes off. To me that makes the whole scene even a bit more uh...tangled.

Considered by Lang as contract work the Blue Gardenia gives us a fascinating look at a lost LA, and a bitter swipe at ideas about women and their place in the world. It's what makes it a favorite of mine to this day.
