Jagan slams Andhra govt, accuses TDP of apathy towards tobacco farmers

Amaravati, Aug 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, on Wednesday slammed the NDA coalition government led by the TDP, for its "apathy" towards tobacco farmers and demanded that tobacco be procured through Markfed. Speaking to the media after interacting with the farmers at Devarapalli in East Godavari district, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that tobacco farmers are in deep distress as the cultivation cost has gone up manifold on one hand and the procurement prices have been falling, with companies forming a syndicate and manipulating market dynamics.

Former MLA of YSRCP arrested in kidnapping case; party claims political vendetta by TDP

Amaravati, Aug 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) Andhra Pradesh Police arrested YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former MLA Shaik Mohammed Mustafa in an alleged kidnapping case. The former MLA from Guntur East was arrested in Gujarat late on Monday night by a police team from Nuzvid. The YSRCP condemned the police action and termed it political vendetta by the TDP-led coalition government. Mustafa and his son Basheer were booked for kidnapping a tobacco trader’s son and two others following a dispute over tobacco procurement transaction. A case was registered against them for kidnapping.
