Mirabilis jalapa

That perfectionism is a leash
let me see the version you only hint at
metaphorically clipped wings from fear
can regrow the second you write it

Yesterday's glitches of certainty
listening attentively to learn
for our growth does not only
exist within our stunning petals

Mornings a reminder of circle time
teaching attendance and calendars
how to apply sunblock and apologize
when pain from playing too roughly

"Are you okay? What can I do
to help you feel better?
A hug or a high five?
Never do that again. Okay"

People can change, statistically don't
like clockwork we bloom at four
in the present we keep growing
anticipation doesn't lessen impact

It's the mistakes which free us
experiences are for learning from
letting go is swimming
to breathe in a coming breeze
