I used Photoshop and Snapseed to bring out the highlights of the stars and field.

#ECK #PostProcess #Converge Photos: @rjrock.bsky.social To achieve Rock's "restrained and realistic," I kept the colors desaturated. The blacks may be "crushed" but realistically at night they would be. I used Lightroom photo merge, made masks for minute light and clarity adjustments.

I used Snapseed to convert initial images to BW, then worked with layers in Photoshop for joining the images into one. Three images were actually used. I cropped some of Rock's image at the top.

So, l knew what l wanted to do with this edit but there was a skill issue…mine lol.

I tried for ages to find a suitable Google image of a simple easel, but I couldn’t get it to work.

But I know a Dan that can 😉

So, off to my step son and l asked him to use unity (after paying a beer tax of course) to drop a photorealistic easel into the first image and match all the lighting conditions.

Then he spouted gobbledygook about “global illumination, volumetric lighting and spectral highlighting?” and l had my base image.

I then took that new image into an app called Phonto and added the darker capture and with manipulation, l got the angle l needed without losing the quality for it to be positioned on the easel.

I then deleted the background image which left me with just the darker picture at the correct angle which l saved.

Then into Snapseed with the background image and the new darker one at the correct angle was added as a double exposure so l could get it to rest on the easel.

That new completed image was then taken to Lightroom for my usual finishing touches of a slight vignette and a white boarder frame.

#Stunday I edited this to have the sky and hills through the arch of the tree remain in color, while I desaturated the rest. #ECK #PostProcess #Photography #Hiking #WestCoastKin

A huge, old oak tree growing near the top of a moderate slope alongside an access road has grown until its branches reach out and touch the the other side of the road creating a portal to the blue sky and hills just beyond. I edited the photo to slightly desaturate the slope in the foreground and the oak tree, leaving the landscape through the portal in color. Marigold trail Irish Hills, San Luis Obispo, California.

I used Snapseed for editing. I cut different sections of the original image and layered them with varying opacity levels. I used black and white, noir, and curves to adjust contrast and shadows.

Shockingly, I have a straightforward edit for this week's #PostProcess #Converge challenge. Given two images... one exposed for sky and one for the landscape. My edits in alt. Original image is by Rock @rjrock.bsky.social

All edits in photoshop.

Each image on a layer, masked out the sky on the top layer. Adjust basic tone on each layer.

Touch up edge of mask with attention to allowing more light on the western facing slopes.

Spot removal tool on streaks of light in the sky. They were distracting.

Bright up whites and shadows on the building

Vignette and brush-in darkening of the field in the foreground to put attention further back (the house and sky)

#PostProcess #ECK #Converge Photos: @rjrock.bsky.social Utilized Snapseed and Lightroom from my phone. In my ‘reality’ the light source on left would cause some glow in the foreground leaving the mountains in silhouette. Gratitude to the hosts for presenting the challenge.
