Jean Claude Perrottet doesn’t seem to remember any conversation he has ever had unless it was recorded. Incredible! #ICAC #OperationRosny.

The ‘work’ that the Reformers did is starting to sound like a political multi level marketing scheme. #ICAC #OperationRosny

ICAC counsel: Were you asked to leave that job? JC Perrottet: I can't remember. That puts all of the previous "I can't remembers" into a different perspective. It was plausible that he couldn't remember individual texts but could remember circumstances. But not now. #ICAC #OperationRosny

One of the funnier things I heard Robert Assaf say in #ICAC today was: "Damien (Tudenhope) had more kids than days in the week." #OperationRosny

And since when is thanking someone for all their support of the family as a "throwaway comment". You wouldn't phrase it like that unless you had received something. #ICAC #OperationRosny

So it seems Greyhounds NSW held some sway within the Catholic right faction of the Liberal party. It will be interesting to see if they follow this line of inquiry at all. #ICAC #OperationRosny

ICAC hears intercepted calls alleging political support and a $100,000 preselection offer

The NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has heard intercepted phone calls involving Jean-Claude Perrottet and fugitive property developer Jean Nassif as part of Operation Rosny. The recordings, made in 2021 when Perrottet was managing Nassif’s investment portfolio at Medallion Finance, focused on political relationships, Liberal Party factional activity and Nassif’s concerns about NSW building commissioner David Chandler. In one recording, Nassif suggested providing $100,000 to one of Perrottet’s brothers to support a preselection, although he did not specify which brother the money was intended for. He also suggested the payment could instead be made to Jeremy Greenwood or Christian Ellis. In another conversation, Perrottet thanked Nassif for his “support for the family”, later describing the remark to the commission as a throwaway comment. A third recording, made shortly after Dominic Perrottet became NSW premier in October 2021, captured Nassif asking Jean-Claude Perrottet to pass a message to Dominic or Charles Perrottet about stopping or changing building commissioner David Chandler. Nassif alleged that he had been promised action against Chandler. Jean-Claude Perrottet characterised the suggestion that his brother Charles was working for Nassif as “crazy talk” and said he was unaware of any such arrangement. The inquiry also examined regular payments Perrottet received from companies associated with Jeremy Greenwood and Christian Ellis, as well as payments linked to his role in securing Catholic Schools NSW as a client. Perrottet said he could not recall what work justified some payments and dismissed a reference to “filthy schools money” in text messages as a joke. The commission also heard about Perrottet’s decision to travel to Fiji in 2023 to avoid appearing before a parliamentary inquiry. Separately, Liberal frontbencher Chris Rath apologised over a possible breach of committee confidentiality, while former upper house leader Damien Tudehope was also referred to the privileges committee.
