There were at least 14 Southern Migrant Hawkers on the wing across the Studland peninsula this afternoon, favouring a number of (largely dried out) pools in the dunes. One of my favourite dragonflies (so blue!) & the 1st I've seen in Dorset for several years #odonata

Keeled Skimmer was an unexpected addition to the St Aldhelm's Head #odonata list this morning, with this dispersing female loitering in the grass by the Coastguards Cottages, a good 7km+ from the nearest heathland. For a site with practically no standing water, the 12+ species list is pretty good!
A slender brown Keeled Skimmer, marked with fine black lines on its abdomen & a pair of pale antehumeral stripes on the thorax, rests facing upwards amongst dead, brown, grass stems.
