These publications, together with the proliferation of Jacobite glassware, prints and medals after 1746 should call into question the modern assumption that Culloden was regarded by contemporaries as the terminal point of the Jacobite project. A major setback, obviously, but its protagonist was still at large and might (if the French had not abandoned him) have been able to mount a comeback.
