Population-scale long-read datasets, involving sequencing and de novo assembly of multiple individuals within a species, are better at capturing the full spectrum of structural variants, but such datasets are rare outside of humans www.science.org/doi/10.11โ€ฆ. #biodiversity #genomics

Multispecies pangenomes reveal a pervasive influence of population size on structural variation

Structural variants (SVs) are widespread in vertebrate genomes, yet their evolutionary dynamics remain poorly understood. Using 45 long-read de novo genome assemblies and pangenome tools, we analyze S...

There are so many people moving over that I'm sure I'm missing folks. Can we make a #compbio / #genomics intro thread to get reacquainted? I'm at the University of Colorado. I often say that if you pick two of three from #transcriptome, #ML, and #publicdata, my lab is probably interested.

I couldn't spot a starter pack for rare disease / clinical genomics, so I started one: go.bsky.app/SUWZ9Hw Very much a work in progress, and biased by who I have already found here, so please suggest people to add! Self-nominations encouraged. #ClinicalInformatics #genomics #bioinformatics ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿงฌ
