Gouldian Finch (Erythrura gouldiae)...Mother Nature was working with a 'no such thing as too much' philosophy the day she designed this finch...native to a very specific & shrinking corridor across Northern Australia. Though a popular pet bird. #bird #photo #nature #biology #wildlife
Gouldian Finch perched on a textured, tan branch. The bird is a vibrant collage of saturated colors: a bright red face, a deep purple chest, and a brilliant yellow belly, with a leafy green back and wings. A thin turquoise band wraps around the back of its head, and its sturdy beak is a clean, ivory white. The background consists of soft-focus green leaves and light-colored stalks, making the bird’s sharp, multi-colored plumage stand out vividly.

Tufted Coquette (Lophornis ornatus), an extremely tiny/rare species of hummingbird, native to S. America & Trinidad. During courtship rituals, males fan their plumes out while hovering in a lyrical side-to-side pendulum motion in front of a female. #birds #biology #wildlife #nature Not Al.

Pesquet’s Parrot (Psittrichas fulgidus) found in the montane rainforests of New Guinea. The short head feathers have evolved so they don’t mat or look like slobs when eating sticky figs. #birds #biology #wildlife #nature

Green Jay (Cyanocorax yncas)…Mexico, Central/South America up to south Texas…omnivores, they take almost everything…insects, fruit, seeds, small animals. They’re Covids so they’re very smart. #birds #wildlife #nature #biology
With a shocking palette that looks like it was painted by a tropical enthusiast, the **Green Jay** is a standout of the brushlands. It sports a brilliant **yellow belly**, a lime-green back, and a vivid blue-and-black head.

Found from South Texas through Central and South America, these birds are as noisy as they are colorful. They are highly social, often traveling in family flocks, and exhibit remarkable intelligence—even using sticks as tools to pry insects from tree bark.

Eurasian Eagle-Owl (Bubo bubo) found across much of Eurasia. Females can reach lengths of up to 75 cm- 2.45 ft and weigh between 1.75 to 4.6 kg - 4 to 10 pounds. In trying to identify the eagle-owl the deep orange eyes are a big clue. #owls #birds #nature #wildlife #biology #Photo
