C15th sacramental font which originally came from the Church of St. Mary in the Marsh - parish church for the cathedral close at Norwich Cathedral. The church which was closed in 1564 & the font is now located in St. Luke’s Chapel at Norwich Cathedral 📸 My own #FontsOnFriday

A fabulous lion from the Herefordshire School on the font at the church of St Mary Magdalene, Eardisley. The font, in a large cup shape, is a fine example of this type craftsmanship, combining 12C Romanesque style cues with Celtic-style interwoven work above and below the frieze. #FontsOnFriday

At St Peter’s by the river Cam strange merman clasp their tails. In this part of Cambridge, below the castle, you get a real sense of a much older, smaller city, set intimately by the river as it winds towards the fens. #FontsOnFriday
Font in a church showing a bowl decorated by carvings of mermen. The font is in twelfth century style, set upon a round pedestal.

The 15th century font at St Mary the Virgin and All Saints, Fotheringhay, Northamptonshire has an unusual cover. It’s made from a medieval misericord rescued from the choir. #FontsonFriday

Church of All Saints, Holbeton, Devon A late 19th Century font. Such beautiful use of highly polished “marble”. Maybe part of the restoration scheme 1885-9 by J. D. Sedding?? #FontsOnFriday
A round bowl on a circular pedestal with four corner supports. Beautiful polished marble, the bowl carved with tracery.
Veining in the polished marble.

The decorated octagonal font of St. Mary’s Church at Beverley in East Yorkshire. The font is made from Derbyshire marble and was given to the church in 1530 by William Leryfaxe, a local draper. 📸 My own. #FontsOnFriday #Beverley #Yorkshire
