A few of the Noss Saga maps exist in real life. These are diegetic maps (they are drawn in the story by one of the characters) so I made them for real with a fountain pen and textured paper. #NossSaga #Cartography #FantasyMaps

Working on a city map for Book 5 of the Noss Saga. I just drew about 9,000 streets. Still on the planning stage before I make it pretty. #Cartography #FantasyMaps

Most often, people hire me to draw clean, grayscale maps of real places. Sometimes, though, people hire me to draw fantasy maps for decoration, or for gaming. And every once in a while, someone will hire me to draw a fantasy-style map of a real places! #maps #fantasymaps
A map of the area around Seattle, from Tacoma in the South to Whidby Island in the north. It is done in a fantasy style, with different places represented by different icons. The border took me a long time, and is made of abstract shapes on a red background. There are mountains and forests, and the map includes Mt. Rainier in the bottom right and Mt. Backer in the top right. Neither mountain is actually there, but it's close enough. This map was commissioned for decoration.
Art. Colored map showing the locations of Alderely Edge, done in a fantasy style. The map is drawn to look like an old map done on parchment, with torn edges curling up. Two bars with ribbons wrapped around them form a frame at the top and right sides of the map. The ribbon on top is blue, the one on the right is a dusty red. On the right side of the map, between the frame and the edge, the map is colored turquoise and does not show any land forms. Written in large vertical letters in this space is the maps' title: "The Edge". The main part of the map is cut with forests and cliffs, and has 13 locations noted. Each location name is in a small frame that looks like a torn piece of parchment. Two roads cut across the map, one labeled Macclesfield Road and the other labeled Artists Lane. They meet in the bottom 3rd of the map by a location called "The Wizard Tearoom." An arrow at the top left points up one of the roads and has a label reading "to Alderely Edge (village). An arrow a the other end of the road, at the bottom of th emap, reads: "To Macclesfield." This map was commissioned to accompany an academic monograph.
A map of the Society for Creative Anachronism's Loch Soillier barony in Texas, done in a pseudo-medieval style. There are sea monsters! This map was commissioned as a birthday present.
Art. A map showing the three main islands of Bali, with the largest island, Nusa Penida, being the center of the map's focus. The map has a medieval / fantasy feel to it. There are drawings of various sea creatures around the island, including a manta ray, two sunfish, and a hammerhead shark. There is also a drawing of a sea monster attacking a sailing ship. There is a larger drawing of a power boat, above a logo that reads, "Two Fish Divers" and there is a drawing of a dive shop for that company in the upper right corner of Nusa Penida. Around the islands are a number of red flags with a white diagonal stripe, indicating dive sites that the company uses. This map was commissioned for use in the dive company's advertisement and branding.

A map of Zovaria, the Pink Capital, built of 16 levels of rose quartz. I made this one for Masks of the Miscam, Book 2 of the Noss Saga, which will be out June 12! #cartography #fantasymaps
A city built of rose quartz rises in sixteen stepped levels, reflected over the waters of the Isdinnklad Sea. A shield with “Zovaria” on it breaks the frame in half, with a map of the city below. The city sparkles, filled with waterfalls, parks, towers, bridges, bastions, and thousands of dwellings. Four spiraling columns rise on the northern, sea-facing side of the city, speckled with gray where the pink tiles have peeled off. Behind the city, in the haze, the curve of the enormous Moordusk Dome takes up most of the sky. A pink-sailed ship sails in the foreground, headed to a nearby island.
