#CartAugust Between the Jukalyan Rainforest and the two shroomeries, you've got *so many species* of EVERYTHING here. Animals, plants, fungi... Absolutely gorgeous lushness and biodiversity. The leshiy that I'm talking about for Critterary is in this rainforest!

#CartAugust This waterway cuts through the continent. Ships can pass through, but they can only go the entire way west-to-east. The water stops being Lord Deep Sea at the narrow strait of Moonslight and Svetmuny. Passing through is considered a trial for new ship captains since they must rely

#CartAugust Here we have both a desert AND a swamp AND the disaster zone that is the Iurish Tunnels. btw, that oasis in the desert is another place where water come shooting out of a portal. And that's why they built a city there. Traversing the Olivian Desert is just seeing one sand dune after

#CartAugust These mountains are called the Kamblu Mountains, though I have only The Twenty Thousand Rivers labeled for clarity's sake. At the highest and most central plateau, there is a portal to Blue Home (ocean planet) where tons of water shoots out at all times. Those waters create

#Cartaugust Behold! My map! This is a map of Aloutia with locations I deemed relevant at the time, lol. To be honest, some are small towns that wouldn't normally be on a world map, and I've also since elevated other cities not shows here to be more important. Made by @dewiwrites.bsky.social

Okay #CartAugust crew, let's talk rampant nature. Where are resources plentiful, so life can go ham? Forests are often the most plentiful biomes, but if that's not the case for your world, hit me with an alternative! πŸͺ πŸ“šοΈ
#CartAugust: a prompt game for map nerds! by mcburnellauthor.bsky.com
Natural features: Day 7, Biodiversity.
Where does nature let its hair down and get lush? Not to put too fine a point on it, but tell me about your forest!

Hey #CartAugust crew! Today we're talking about tricky terrain. Interpret as you will. There aren't summer camps here; smart travelers hire guides; travelers who aren't smart don't come back alive. πŸͺ πŸ“šοΈ
#CartAugust: a prompt game for map nerds! by mcbrunellauthor.bsky.com
Natural features: Day 6 Harsh terrain
How about deserts or swamps? Have anywhere that's just natively tough to survive, where noobs who stray off the path without a guide will be lucky to make it back?

Hey hey everyone, welcome to our awesome new map game! We're here to celebrate our love for fictional maps all month long! Before we start poring over details, let's start with the basics: tell us who you are and a little bit about your world. And don't forget to share your map! #Cartaugust πŸͺ πŸ“šοΈ
The background is an image of maps on a rack heavily colored by sepia.

#CartAugust Still talking about the features of the terrain. Today: water! Where is it, and can we use it to get around! Is it fresh and life-giving or poisonous? If you don't have water, talk to me about navigable ways
#CartAugust: a prompt game for map nerds! by mcburnellauthor.bsky.com
Natural features: Day 5, Waterways
Rivers, lakes, or oceans. What's the most noteworthy stretch of water here? Is it a navigable way or a death wish?

#Cartaugust Aloutia has been fully explored. However, one planet that has been a problem is Munil. First off, this is a 3D crescent shape floating in space, which means cartographers don't really know how to display it on a 2D map. Even this one is sorta just... symbolic? An approximation?

You shall not pass! Hey #CartAugust crew, time to dive in and really start looking at your maps. Today, we're talking elevation: highs, lows, and if you have neither, barriers to movement. Tell me about the geology, the history, famous explorers who lost their lives there... What do I need to know?
#CartAugust: a prompt game for map nerds by @mcburnellauthor.bsky.com
Natural features: Day 4, Barriers.
Talk to me about elevation changes in your world. Mountains, canyons, caves. Which is most interesting and why?
