The penguin is walking along a dry grass path the grass brown and dead likely from too much (penguin) foot traffic and poo! it is facing sideways the nearest flipper out behind it displaying a rarely seen clean white front having just come back from the sea - once its been in the colony a while it will inevitably also have been pooed on. It ghas a black head, neck and back with a white band extending between the eyes over the top of the head. Its bright red beak stands out as do it's stubby orange legs, the nearest foot raised as it hurries along

Photograph of an adult Kelp Gull, the largest breeding gull in the Falkland Islands. It's a largish white gull other than black wings with a white trailing edge. It has grey green legs, red eyes and a yellow slightly hooked beak with a red spot at the end of the lower beak. This one is alighting on the calm sea onto a patch of kelp, its legs in the water, the tip of its lower bill having dipped in and just come out of the sea still with a continuous drip of water from bill to surface and its wings stretched out above it. The evening sun casts a yellowish light.

4 May 1982 // Destroyer HMS Sheffield was hit by an Argentine Navy air-launched Exocet off the #Falklands and set ablaze. 20 of her crew were killed. Although heavily damaged Sheffield remained afloat, but attempts to take her in tow had to be abandoned and she sank on 10 May. #RoyalNavy
