Exceptional article in The Age/SMH about Advance and the #AtlasNetwork and, as ‘journalist Mungo MacCallum said at the time, "a stratospherically elite clique of rich, bored men looking for a hobby".’ They are trying to turn Australia into a Trumpian hellscape. #Auspol archive.is/2025.04.17-1...

Big day for the understanding of the #AtlasNetwork in Australia. Thanks to Gareth Hutchens and the ABC for publishing the story (and the namecheck 🫣). You can’t understand the last 50 years of Australia’s history (closer to a century in quieter ways) without this. #auspol #NZpol
If you're wondering which reporters in Australia regularly cover these think tank networks, there aren't many.
The independent journalist Lucy Hamilton is a stand-out. Anthony Klan from The Klaxon is another, along with Michael West from Michael West Media. The Guardian keeps tabs on some of the individuals and organisations in the ecosystem. The ABC and Sydney Morning Herald report sporadically on it.
Dr Jeremy Walker from UTS is one of the most prominent Australian academics working in this space.
He made a detailed 75-page submission (No.
243) to the committee that discusses early fossil fuel industry knowledge of the disastrous environmental impacts of the greenhouse effect, the corporate funding sources for different free-market think tanks, and the links between various groups in the ecosystem.

BREAKING! WORLD FIRST! 🔥Australia's public broadcaster publishes extended #AtlasNetwork explainer by Gareth Hutchens. When I went on ABC radio 3 years ago to talk about the global Atlas network of 550+ orgs, no one had heard of it. Atlas HQ wanted to keep it that way. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-01...

The attack on NZs democracy & its social & environmental protections is no mistake, no coincidence. It is absolutely the plan, it always has been. newsroom.co.nz/2025/07/29/a... #nz #nzpol #atlasnetwork The right wing collective see themselves as part of a worldwide movement.. & they have a playbook

MPs seem to have forgotten who pays their salaries and that they should serve the interests of all New Zealanders.

If anyone wants to see the degree to which the #AtlasNetwork is a genuine conspiracy, there is a collection of resources listed here. Some academic, some investigative, some explanatory. Atlas is making the world safe for plutocrats at your expense. #AtlasNetwork docs.google.com/document/….

The Liberal and National Parties are the political outreach operations of mining (and incidentally a handful of other sectors). The #AtlasNetwork partners manage consent and, failing that, distraction. #Auspol
