At the top, we see some diagrams featuring a dog and an anteater to demonstrate how the standard phone handset doesn’t work as well as the Bell style.

There are also some sketches of more modern takes on the Bell Phone.

An updated sepia toned illustration of an ancient species concept for my fantasy world, Tales of Tiamont. The artwork features a hairy, tree dwelling creature with a large nose, oversized claws, and a long prehensile tail as it perches among the branches. It looks at the viewer with a surprised expression. Clusters of gemstones protrude from its body. The background frame is its natural habitat, a dense forest. The mood is soft and dream-like, almost as if it is a flashback from a time long ago.

This creature is one of the seven Aven races in Tales of Tiamont. In the present day of the story, Avens are a sophisticated anthropomorphic race with their own kingdoms, cultures, and different appearances. Thousands of years earlier, however, they were much more feral, and each modern Aven species evolved from an ancient ancestor like this one.

I have rough ideas for the other ancestral Aven species…though I'm still experimenting with many of their designs. This one, however, is the one concept I've felt the most confident about for quite some time. It's been a while since I've drawn this ancient Aven species, so I thought it was finally time to give them an updated design.
