Hopeless at following reading commands/invitations, but finished this remarkable novel just in time for the beginning of #WITmonth #womenintranslation.
The cover of the NYRB edition of Magda Szabó's novel The Fawn. A young woman, seen from above, sits, almost doubled over, as if she has been laughing, a cigarette in one hand and a saucer, presumably used as an ashtray, in the other. A marble statue stands behind her.

Nature's field of action is vast, far larger than man's modest patch. - Olga Tokarczuk in "The Green Children" (Zielone dzieci), Jennifer Croft translator, in Antonia Lloyd-Jones' volume The Penguin Book of Polish Short Stories. #SundaySentence #Booksky #Poland #WomeninTranslation
The cover of this short story collection is white with a stylized black-drawn human figure bent over looking into a reflection.

Finished MASKS by Fumiko Enchi, tr. Juliet Winters Carpenter as my 2nd #WITmonth #WomenInTranslation read. Okay this book unravels a series of interlocking love triangles with hints at lesbianism, incestuous closeness, intergenerational obsessions and i dunno what else.
