Dont let their appearance fool you. Long ago transplanted Yakatat wild berries…the flavor explodes and you smell them while picking. #akleg #akfood #wildfood

Common Evening Primroses are starting to bloom. Bumblebees approve. Humans sometimes gripe that they spread too much. I understand mobility issues can make this hard, but don't 'weed' a plant with edible roots, shoots, leaves, flowers and seeds. Harvest it. #nativeplants #ecoregion59 #wildfood

Yesterday I discovered Aotearoa New Zealand has a (very small) native #chanterelle, Cantharellus wellingtonensis. No sources say if they're edible/culinary, though. Anyone has experience with eating these southern chanterelles? #WildFood #Mycology #Foraging 🧪🌏

Two fingers shown for scale of just how small these chanterelles are, smaller than a dollar coin.

Wild Raisins, Viburnum nudum, common in the coastal plains, wet woodlands and bogs from Canada to Florida along the East Coast. Growing with Blueberry and Huckleberry in the Hundred Acre Woods, in Brooklin, ME. North Atlantic Coastal Zone #ecoregion57 #nativeplants #wildfood #foraging
Waxy leaves and green (unripe) berries of Viburnum nudum. Leafcutter bees have been going after this plant.
