Flying drones in fire zones is not allowed. In a press conference on Aug. 3, Spokane Sheriff John Nowels said drones are simply not allowed and have already interfered with fire operations there. It’s not allowed in other fire zones either. #wawildfire

Firefighting aircraft operate at low altitudes, often just a few hundred feet above the ground – the same airspace frequently used by recreational drones. This creates a significant risk of mid-air collisions or dangerous pilot distractions that could lead to catastrophic accidents. #wawildfire
A wildfire graphic shows a drone in a sky. Text says no drone zone. If you fly., we can't. Flying drones over wildfires is not safe.

Our state is sending firefighters to help Oregon under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact. While our state has several wildfires, resources here haven't been exhausted & we believe helping Oregon is possible. We wish them well & thank them for their dedication & service. #wawildfire
