It was only after Jonas Salk developed the first safe & effective polio vaccine that the need for iron lungs declined. When asked who owned the vaccine patent, Salk famously answered, “Well, the people, I would say. There is no patent. Could you patent the sun?” 7/7 #vaccineswork
