In this poem, Charles Thomas reclaims “fundamentalist” as a declaration of what we refuse to compromise: human rights, fairness, equity, accountability, care for the Earth, peace and freedom for all. These are the fundamentals our #UU faith calls us to live. #UnitarianUniversalist #FaithInAction
Vertical graphic in warm orange, amber, and black tones. A silhouetted person sits in tall grass at sunset, one arm extended with an open palm appearing to cradle the glowing sun. A large, semi-transparent dark rectangle overlays the upper portion of the image. White text reads: “we are the fundamentalists” in large bold letters, followed by “not those who claim the name / but those of us / who believe in human rights / for everyone / who believe in fundamentals / of fairness / of equality / of equity.” The text is arranged with varied spacing and indentation to echo the poem’s structure. At the bottom left is the white Unitarian Universalist Association chalice logo. “http://UUA.ORG ” appears in bold white text at the bottom center, and a white right-pointing arrow in the lower-right corner indicates that additional slides follow.

🕊️ 🕊️ 🕊️ 🕊️ 🕊️ 🕊️ 🕊️ At church today we were asked to stand if we had gone to a Hands Off rally. Half of my congregation stood. If you’re looking to connect with more people taking action (& you’re not into dogmas!), you might want to consider UUs. #UnitarianUniversalist
