#Mesozoic 100 m sprint: a juvenile #Tyrannosaurus - legitimately thought to be one of the fastest of all predatory #dinosaurs - chases down Ornithomimus. T. rex leg muscle configs suggest that they were ambushers, not marathon runners, so outrunning them was one means of escape. #paleoart #Sciart
A scaly juvenile tyrannosaur chases a feathered ostrich-like dinosaur across a dusty landscape. Background details are sparse but the foreground is littered with low plants. The tyrannosaur is countershaded, with a darker top than flanks, while the ostrich dinosaur has light brown feathers over its dorsum with a white head and neck. Its legs and chest are devoid of feathers, as is suggested by fossils.
