What's up with so many similar minerals being put up against each other in #MinCup26? Today we have #Stichtite taking on #Talc - both layered with magnesium units making up one of the layers. Stichtite a little confused where it's carbonate should go - so today's vote is for ordered talc!

#MinCup26 Both #stichtite and #talc are useful for remote sensing and astrobiology, detecting ancient interaction of water and rock. 🤔 Stichtite might be better for targeting specific locations to check for evidence of life. So … vote #stichtite ? Not quite sure.

Tempted to vote for #talc just from the amount of time I've spent trying to get some. I heard talc powder made a great mold release agent and wanted to try it out, only problem is that since the J&J thing it is hard to find from a reputable source in less than multi-pound quantities.
