here's a very belated may experimental!

The character is a transmasculine person, as seen by the scars on his chest. He is a sword & sorcery-style knight, wearing no shirt or pants, but only a chainmail loin cloth, ornate girdle, fringed boots, cape and a pig-nose helmet with a heart-shaped visor. There is a heart-shaped hole on his chest, and fire rising from a hole on top of his helmet. He is standing in a relaxed pose, holding his sword vertically across his shoulders. He is coloured nearly flat in two hues of light brownish-orange, accentuated with heavily textured lineart. Behind him is a red fiery frame with a glowing effect. The background is a heavily edited photo. The sky appears purple and does not hide pixellated particles caused by the editing. Below the sky is a dark green treeline, most details of which were erased. Lastly there is the grass, which took on a reddish hue.

This is a multimedia piece I've been wanting to do for months, character is painted in acrylics on a digital photo manipulation printed background. Also, it's been a while since my monthly experiments had a more playful tone!

First I edited a photo background and added a digital line sketch, which I got printed on imitation canvas, and then finished by painting the character with acrylics. The piece is pretty big - 104 x 139 cm. The background is a photo of an old wine basement, appearing like a cave with brick walls. I edited it to get a blue and green-yellow palette. The character is sitting on the floor in the center of the cave, grinning. The nose, mouth and eyes are the only other part of this piece that was done digitally, as I was unsure if I could paint the sharp edges of the design. He's wearing a hooded cape, which gives the impression of an invisible coat, as its colours reflect the colour of the background in a blurry way. He's wearing a black shirt which extends into a loin cloth with a green, zig-zag edge. The shape of the hood covering his face is a heart. His face is partially shadowed, while red fiery hair is sticking out on the leftside. He's wearing gauntlets, which are shaded in much more delicate detail than the rest of the character. The metallic shading also extends to the wavy-bladed sword. His boots are red and black, with a somewhat checkered pattern. Behind him is a wall which is transparent in the middle, having a dreamlike impression. On the wall of the cave which took on the greenish-yellow tint in the photomanipulation process, I painted a torch with a green flame. On the upper left part of the painting is a yellow moon crescent. Lastly on the top right edge of the painting are a couple of crystals, catching the colours of their surroundings, which makes them almost invisible until you notice them. I really love how these turned out.

An edited photograph was used as the base of the background, with a few hand-drawn patches of grass and a roughly sketched bare tree on the distant right. The sky was cut out from the photograph and left flatly grey, with a few elements scattered about it as well; a couple of hand-drawn dark pink clouds on the left, a line drawing of a wild boar on the right in green line, and two hand-drawn stars. The rest of the stars are taken from a photo of the night sky at my parents place, with Orion's belt clearly seen on the right-side in the boar's head. On the topmost edge of the image is a pink greek key pattern, which turns downwards a little before the right-side edge. The end of the downturned pattern nearly reaches one of the hand-drawn stars, which is placed over the boar's eye. The character is placed in the middle of the image, kneeling and wielding a sword. His body is turned leftwards, and his torso is slightly twisted so that the full image of the sword is facing the viewer, lightly obscuring the character's face. The sword is in a light orange/yellow colour, while the face is set in darker tones - desaturated purple, grey and black. While most of the body is pink, his right arm is blue. The character is nude, except for a dark green loin cloth with a thin golden belt. On his feet, he is wearing yellow sandals. On his head, he is wearing a dark grey helm with a heart-shaped visor. Through a heart-shaped hole in his chest flies a powdery blue falling star, aiming for an illuminated circle on the floor behind the character.

Finally, a very belated February experiment piece! I barely had time for art last month, so I kept this one as a simple drawing that could be used for screenprinting in the near future.

It depicts a graphic design of a character standing in a hole in the ground, holding a sword and looking angry. The art is stylized with a use of many triangular and wavy lines to achieve a graphic effect, while other aspects, mainly the character's body, are more organic, but still very rough in style. There is a rose on the image, implying the character is rising from his grave, and the background implies a night-time, natural setting due to the depiction of a couple of stars and a pine tree. The top of the image depicts a quote; "THE HOLE YOU PUT ME IN / WASN'T DEEP ENOUGH" The piece is predominantly dark blue drawing on a pink background with hints of other colours provided by texturing. It also has a white outline in certain places, as the white bottom layer was slightly moved to achieve the effect.

It features an armoured character with fire hair and a sword gazing towards a black spired castle being struck by lighting, backed by a rainbow. The ground is dark, as are the clouds above, but the central section shows a blue and pink sky, reflecting in the puddle of water in the foreground. A line of four tall trees leads to the right of the castle, and two black birds are accompanying the character. Right of the lighting is a series of black stars/sparkles in a distinct pattern. The pattern is based on Braille, spelling "Fix your heart or die". The initial background was lifted from a scene in Excalibur (1981) and re-textured with my own photographs. The armour was also copied from a different scene in the movie and outlined fully with lasso tool. Specifically, I turned to Excalibur for the extreme shininess of armours in it. The background also uses one of my photographs, mostly smudged with a little bit of a treeline seen in the distance. The fire hair, birds, trees, castle and lightning were all freehanded with lasso tool, giving them a rough shape.
