China's PM2.5 pollution fell by roughly 60% since 2013, one of the largest & fastest air-quality improvements ever recorded by a major industrial economy. What's remarkable is that it happened while China continued growing, industrialising & expanding electricity generation. #Bettrification #SWB

The old energy system sells dependence and a lifetime of bills. The new one builds resilience and abundance. ➡️ Rooftop solar ➡️ Batteries ➡️ EVs ➡️ Microgrids ➡️ Local generation The future of energy isn’t just cleaner. It’s more decentralized, democratic & resilient. #SWB #Bettrification

Solar generating more electricity than coal across the US for an entire month by 2026 would have sounded implausible in 2016. What excites me even more, than how far we've come, & expectations already surpassed, is that today is still merely the beginning. Cost always wins. #SWB #Bettrification

The story isn't just that batteries are getting cheaper. It's that batteries are getting cheaper while gas is getting more expensive. When the disruptor's costs fall as the incumbent's costs rise, adoption can accelerate far faster than most people expect. #SWB #Bettrification #Renewables

95% of new U.S. power capacity in 2025 came from solar, wind & storage. This isn’t politics—it’s economics. Renewables are cheaper, faster & now dominate grid growth. The transition isn’t coming, it’s here—hard & fast. ⚡🇺🇸 #EnergyTransition #Solar #Wind #BESS #Disruption #Lithium #Renewables #SWB

Fossil fuels are losing on three fronts: rising extraction costs, renewables’ rapid cost declines via scale (Wright’s Law), and mounting social-political resistance. Renewables win on price, scalability, and efficiency, while fossil projects face economic, regulatory, and public headwinds. ⚡🌍 #SWB

For the first time in history, renewables will generate more electricity than coal by 2025—not just installed capacity, but actual output (TWh). By 2027, renewable generation nearly doubles vs 2019. Fossil fuels are fading fast. We’re heading straight for Type 1 civilization. #EnergyTransition #SWB
For the first time in human history, renewables will overtake coal in actual electricity generation by 2025—not just installed capacity, but real, measurable terawatt-hours (TWh) delivered to the grid. That’s a historic tipping point. We're not talking projections anymore—this is locked in by the IEA and backed by real-world deployment trends.

Just four years later, by 2027, renewable output will nearly double what it was in 2019, driven mostly by explosive solar and wind growth. Coal, once the king of the power sector, is being displaced not by policy alone, but by cold economics and rapid innovation. In many countries, it’s now cheaper to build new solar+storage than to keep old coal plants running.

And this isn’t some minor shift—it’s civilizational. This is how humanity takes its first true step toward a Type 1 civilization, harnessing planetary energy directly from the sun and atmosphere rather than burning compressed biomass from hundreds of millions of years ago. We're finally upgrading our operating system.

Coal plants are becoming stranded assets. Many will be shut down before the end of their life. Some will be repurposed, others turned into museum pieces—relics of an era when we burned rocks for power.

The fossil age isn’t just ending—it’s being outcompeted.⚡🌍

The most important energy milestone of the 21st century. In 2025, renewables overtook coal to become the world's largest source of electricity generation for the first time in modern history. Coal powered the industrial age. Renewables appear set to define the electric age. #SWB #Bettrification

Solar, wind & batteries are beginning to do what critics claimed was impossible: Push national electricity prices DOWN at country scale. Spain may be one of the first major real-world examples of the new energy system structurally undercutting fossil-driven power markets. #SWB
Wind + solar now supply roughly 44% of Spain’s electricity generation, while fossil generation has fallen sharply. Most importantly, gas plants reportedly set the wholesale market price in only ~9% of hours, down from ~55% in 2022.

That is the real inflection point.

What we appear to be witnessing is one of the first major real-world examples of electricity prices falling at country scale due to the aggressive scaling of solar, wind and batteries.

Not just isolated hours. Not temporary oversupply events. But structural downward pressure on wholesale electricity markets.

The old energy system depended on expensive gas generation frequently sitting at the margin and effectively dictating electricity prices across the market.

But once solar and wind become large enough:
• gas runs less often
• peak pricing weakens
• wholesale clearing prices compress
• fossil volatility loses influence

This is the merit-order effect now playing out at country scale.

And batteries are only beginning to enter the equation.
Spain’s battery storage capacity is ramping rapidly, helping absorb cheap midday solar, reduce curtailment, and increasingly shift low-cost electricity deeper into evening demand peaks.

Critics long argued high renewable penetration would inevitably make electricity more expensive due to intermittency, backup requirements, and system instability.

Yet Spain is increasingly demonstrating the opposite:
More clean energy can structurally suppress wholesale electricity prices while reducing exposure to imported fossil fuel volatility.

This does not mean the transition is “complete.”
Retail electricity bills still include taxes, transmission, distribution, and policy costs. Evening price spikes still occur. Flexibility, storage and transmission expansion remain critical.

But the broader signal is becoming harder to ignore:
Spain may ultimately be remembered as one of the first places where the new energy system began visibly undercutting the old one economically.

China has ranked #1 globally in installed wind power capacity for 15 straight years. By November 2025, installed wind capacity had surpassed 600 GW, more than any other country by a wide margin. The energy transition is operating at a scale many still struggle to comprehend. #Bettrification #SWB

I’ve updated my piece on The Material Extraction Debate with a new section on the Just Transition—because this isn’t just about swapping fuels. It’s about freeing nations bled dry by petro-states. Clean energy is a revolt against dependency. Energy autonomy is power. It’s dignity. It’s justice. #SWB
