For the UK, Paramount has committed to make Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network “editorially distinct” and continue to commission or acquire original children's content for the region if the Warner Bros. merger closes. The merger will not close until June 2027 or the trial settles.

The UK has approved the proposed Paramount/Warner Bros. merger. The deal must still clear or settle the coalition of states’ antitrust lawsuit in the U.S. before the merger can move forward.

A Warner Bros. executive on the uncertainty of the Paramount-Warner Bros. deal: “Nobody wants this merger, but what happens if it fails? Is that worse? We’ll just be sold to someone else.”

The antitrust trial over the Warner Bros./Paramount merger is officially set for March 2027. Beginning September 30, Paramount will also be required to pay Warner Bros. shareholders $7 million per day until the merger is finalized.
