Lucille Ball--actress, comedian, producer & film-studio executiver--was born #OTD in 1911. In 1962, she bought out Desi Arnaz's interest in Desilu Productions & became the 1st woman to own & run a major TV studio. Desilu produced many popular TV series including Mission: Impossible & #StarTrek. 🖖
This classic black-and-white studio portrait captures the legendary Lucille Ball (1911–1989), an American actress, comedian, and pioneering studio executive. Best known for her iconic role in I Love Lucy, Ball was the first woman to lead a major television studio, Desilu Productions. In this elegant, close-up composition, Ball looks directly at the camera with a calm and poised expression. Her light-colored hair is styled in elaborate, high-volume rolls that sweep upward from her forehead, typical of the sophisticated 1940s glamour. She wears a shimmering, light-toned jacket with a subtle grid pattern that catches the light. Her ensemble is accented by large, round, sparkling cluster earrings that draw attention to her face. The lighting is soft yet focused, highlighting her perfectly applied makeup—defined brows, dark mascara, and a polished, dark lip color. The background is softly out of focus, featuring a neutral, textured wall with organic, leaf-like shadows that create a sense of depth.

“Mankind will reach maturity on the day it learns to value diversity —of life and ideas. ... The worst thing that could happen is for all of us to look and think and act alike.” — Gene Roddenberry I'm guessing Pauline Hanson is no fan of #StarTrek. #auspol #diversity #multiculturalism
"If man is to survive, he will learn to take delight in the essential differences between cultures. To learn that differences in ideas and attitudes are a delight, part of life's exciting variety, not something to fear." — Gene Roddenberry

Don’t know why but it is my birthday and found this pic from 2000 when i was shooting inserts for Zoolander and they had the title cards from the original series on the stage. One of my biggest regrets in life is not offering this man any amount of money to buy that card. #STARTREK

Since yesterday I was talking about Gates McFadden’s struggles to get behind the camera opportunities, it’s time for me to share a story about the Doctor and how she’s one of the reasons I’m a Professor. 🧵 (Here’s us at the 2024 #StarTrek convention #STLV)

True story: #StarTrek had Kirk reporting to a Black flag officer five years before the U.S. Navy had a Black admiral. Representation matters, and Star Trek has always been political.

I don't usually "do memes" but I'm about to hop on a 7hr flight so I say we do a #StarTrek meme roundup today. Dig deep, and bring the best you got! Most liked meme wins 5 Stanley Nickels!
It's a Chief Miles Edward O'Brien meme. He's standing magnificently in his uniform and smiling at us, his loving onlookers. Meme caption reads,
"INSIDE YOU ARE TWO WOLVES.
SORRY ABOUT THE TRANSPORTER MALFUNCTION"

Shoutout to my uncle's father, the late John Colicos. 70's kids knew him as Kor or Count Baltar. Nice man. Oh boy, did he have some awesome stories about Hollywood in the 60's and 70's! #scifi #scifitv #startrek #bsg
