I find the #spellingbee vocab questions really interesting and revealing. There are kids who can spell complicated words I’ve never heard of, but there are also kids who don’t know what “adage” or “sodden” means. Which is not to insult them at all! It’s just instructive about what is measured.

I guess it makes sense that where you used to see a lot of spellers air-scribble like they were writing down a word, you now see a lot of them air-typing. #spellingbee
