This summer wasps made a nest in our garden beside our bike stand in an old tree stump. I persuaded the family to put up with it and the wasps have finally died off. This is what it looks like now. (Wasps don’t reuse their nests) #biodiversity #speirgorm @gardeningwell.ie

I think we're generally much too chill about how mainstream and normal this weird, obsessive anti-Irish stuff is in the UK. #speirgorm

A great day on the Dublin Bird Race yesterday. 11 teams took part recording 109 species. A decent tally given the persistent, (very wet) rain. 1st place went to ‘The Troy Parrotts’ beating favorites the “Southside Swifts”. Best name goes to “Irritable Owl Syndrome” #SpeirGorm #IrishBirding 1/2

Thanks to Heritage Council funding, digital versions of these parish registers will soon be online. And the precious records of St Luke's Douglas can move from a damp old building to a temperature-controlled archive. #Speirgorm #Ireland 🗃️
3 large leather-bound books lie on a table, framed by a checkerboard tiled floor and a window inset frame. They are in chronological order, oldest, most tattered volume on the left. The newest bears the lable 'In memory of Percy Henry Sweetnam, 21-3-18 to 5-3-91'

Ireland elects an independent, socialist woman to the position of president. Irish Media: ‘Today, we ask what went wrong with the system, what her opponents have to say about it, and how it can be fixed for next time.’ #SpeirGorm #Áras2025
