"S-Seina, we should knock f--!?" Himari tried. Seina practically kicked the door open. "KYOKA! You complete goober! We're waiting on you!" Kyoka froze mid pull-up, blinking over her shoulder at her two friends standing in her door in such starkly contrasted moods. Seina was all confidence and dry humor, while Himari was mortified, white-faced, and wide-eyed. Himari's shock lingered as her eyes instinctively trailed down before she caught them. Kyoka was wearing a simple sports-top, shorts, and sneakers, with a strange belt that was attached to four different chains. The chains vanished down into purple-glowing rings of runes rather than actual weights. That was not what had sucked Himari's gaze down, however. For a teenage girl, Kyoka was rigidly muscled. Every contour was so defined she could have served as an anatomy model, and she was apparently working herself to a sweat -- a first to Himari's eye -- so her dark skin was literally glistening. Kyoka had also frozen mid motion, so her arms were fully flexed to support her entire body and whatever weights she had hidden with her magic. "Oh! Wow, you guys were fast!" Kyoka finally recovered. Her belt with the chains burst off her frame with a set of purple-green sparkles, and she lightly dropped to her feet. "Sorry! I must've lost track of time!" she apologized as she grabbed a little towel and started to wipe herself off from the hair down.

“...Quinn?” Dorian’s voice says, and I curse myself for not turning off my personal phone before going on patrol. Second mistake of the night. Dorian Sandoval, guys, gals and non-binary pals. Best friend, and undisputed master of poorly timed phone calls. “Dorian! Hey…sorry, just out right now…can’t really talk…” I huff, trying to sound like I’m doing something other than chasing a villain down the street dressed in a dark grey and navy supersuit. “You sound out of breath,” Dorian says, seemingly ignoring the last thing I said. “Yeah, you kinda caught me…in the middle of a run…” I say as I monkey vault over a bike stand to avoid a cluster of people, eyes still fixed on my quarry. “You and your running…y’know, for someone with such a sedentary lifestyle whenever I see you, you're kind of a jock when I’m not around.” “Head’s up!” The villain calls out ahead of me. “I dunno…it’s not that big of a deal…” I pant as I do a short wall run to avoid the dumpster Void kicked into my path. “Exercise is good for you.” “Well, can you stop running for a sec? We need to talk about some last minute details for the weekend.” Void’s ten or fifteen metres ahead of me when she turns left down an alley. “Ah…not really. Y’know, don’t wanna pull a muscle by stopping cold.” Or let the bad guy get away. Hunkering down, I pour on the speed to catch up, arriving in time to see her vaulting back and forth between a fire escape and a brick wall like gravity is meaningless, aiming for the roof.

Snippet from Flowers & Entomology: Zinnian surrendered. "Fine! Fine, fine..." After a huff, he said, "I don't want some random, cloaked figure from the Underground taking it back to her. I want to talk to her myself. Not for my job back. I just... I need to apologize and the camera is a good transition into that. I'm just not ready yet" "Understood." Whispers turned back around. That was when Zinnian asked, rhetorically probably, "Why am I telling you this? You've never courted a woman." Sylvia chirped in her seat, stifling a laugh. "Hey now, young lad!" Whispers yelled. Zinnian leaned over as close as the trailer would allow him and said, "Ya know, it's rather gentlemanly to understand romance." Whispers scoffed, but he was listening. For a brief second, he looked over at smiling Sylvia. Zinnian said, "It's true. Women love poetry, flowers, and don't forget about their hobbies. Think about what a lady likes and gift her something special. She'll melt in your arms faster than ice cream in the Delamar summer heat." He then moved away from the cab.

Beautiful. Despite it all, he was still the same beautiful man that clumsily stumbled into his life by sheer chance out of a tree thicket on a summer vacation at just the right moment. The one that saved him, loved him, and waited for him to learn to stand on his own truly free. I'm not stupid, Morg. The one that needed the same from him now. "Ther?" Morgan quietly spoke. I've done the same thing you're trying to do right now. They would survive whatever this was, together. "H-hey." You don't need to do this alone. Every step of the way, I'll be right beside you. "Oh no, n-no. What's wrong?" He hadn't noticed the tears falling until one hit his hand as he wiped off Morgan's abdomen.

9 - Arlo Arlo was not about to let a trip interrupt his routine. He woke up before even the birds on the second day of the journey. They'd picked up those making pilgrimage back to the Holy City of the Faithful and made it maybe a quarter of the way out of the stretches of fields, forests, and farmland that made up Ela's Outer City. Camp had been made in a crescent shaped field surrounded by a copse of trees by the side of the road. Tents were pitched and a hearty dinner with ingredients still fresh from the Tower City made. He'd gone to bed early, knowing that eventually they would have to set watches once they were outside the City's bounds, and that he should get his rest while he could. Which also let him wake before everyone else. He fetched water from the spigot in the center of camp and shaved his face and head as he did every morning. Then he performed a series of slow stretches inside his tent, having just enough room to spread his arms to either side of himself. After twenty minutes of this, he dressed in loose trousers and his boots, forewent his shirt, and stepped out into the cool morning air. The previous night he'd walked the outer perimeter of the campsite and determined that if you circled it twice you would have gone near enough to a mile. So now he started at a slow walk, into a jog, and finally a run, up to speed by the end of his first circuit. He maintained that run for the second circuit, then slowed to a brisk jog, letting his long legs devour the distance. Halfway through his third lap, he caught sight of another figure out in the mist ahead and sped up. Reka was out running as well, in similar loose trousers, her new boots, but thankfully for her and everyone else's modesty, her training robe from sword lessons. Arlo felt a smile split his face as he caught up to and surpassed her. "On your left!" He shouted as he went by. Reka laughed but didn't bother to speed up. She had long legs for a woman her height and could put on speed when she ne…
On the fifth lap the other men of Reka's honor guard had joined them. They were all grouped up in a slow moving knot and chatting amicably amongst themselves. He checked over his shoulder and saw Reka wasn't too far behind him, so he sped up to the men's other side before skidding to a halt in a spray of morning dew and turning to face them. "Did I pick a bunch of laze-a-bouts and idlers to protect our Princess?" he boomed, making sure to lean on to the word Princess enough that Reka would hear it. "I've got three laps on her and five you laggards!" "On your left!" Came Reka's call as she streaked by faster than should have been possible for someone of her build. Arlo laughed and turned back around to speed after her while the guardsmen all began cursing and finally putting their legs to proper work. He passed Reka again another hundred meters out and ran the rest of the way in silence. After a sixth and final lap, he veered off towards the wagons to pick up a few things before returning to a clearing past where the last line of tents were pitched. He brought with him a bundle of staves all of uniform width and length and a bucket of water with a wooden ladle dropped in it. The bucket he placed a few feet from the edge of camp, keeping the staves until about a quarter of the way across the field, then dropping all but one. He sat with his retained staff across his legs and watched the others go by while jeering at them to pick it up already. Reka finished her run soon after and drank a ladle full of water slowly while walking in a small circle. When she was done she put the ladle back in the bucket before walking over to the staves he'd thrown down and kicking one into her hands without breaking stride. Arlo stood as she approached and they both began a series of practiced staff forms. They then treated their staves as long handled axes, and were halfway through spear forms before the other guardsmen started streaming into the clearing to slake their thirst and pick…
