Lil buddy blue is sweeping the votes so far, which is a nice change of pace from past performance for #Azurite & it’s bff malachite. But I was looking forward to writing more about the junk pile beauty of #Smithsonite. #MinCup: where every blurb may be the last. Or not-last, which is just as hard.

For the first match of #MinCup26, I give to you this lovely, old school display that show how staining carbonate minerals with different chemicals can be used to ID them. #Smithsonite makes an appearance here, but #Azurite is missing because its easy to ID... no stain required
