A portrait orientation shot showing a historic, masted ship docked in a quiet harbour at dusk. The sky is pale, almost devoid of colour, with just a mere hint of blue at the top of the image before it meets a light bank of cloud that's forming towards the horizon. The harbour water is almost perfectly flat and grey, and the area is quite wide and backed by buildings along the low waterfront. That distant landscape and the historic ship in the foreground along with assorted small boats anchored in the water are all largely in silhouette. The ship is facing almost towards us, just pointing its prow over our right shoulder. Several tall masts rise up four or five times the height of the deck with spars jutting out from them and ropes angled off and down towards the deck with no sign of any sails. It's a peaceful scene.

It's just after sunset and we're at sea. The sky has a thin layer of dusky pink and pale yellow cloud over it and the dark blue-black water has picked up some purples and pinks on its generally flat surface. It feels still and quiet and there's a sense that we're at anchor and high up on a vessel close to another similarly stationary on the water. That ship is a cargo vessel, unladen as far as we can see. Its hull is dark red with bold white writing "Ultrabulk" written on its side. It is facing left and pointed slightly towards us so its bridge is at the rear on the right. Lights from the bridge and on tower structures along the ship's length cast green glows on the water by the ship's high hull.

We're beside a small harbour area, looking from land across a short stretch of water to a couple of low piers running across against which there are docked ten, small, motorised pleasure boats. The main focus is just behind them where a large fishing vessel dominates the space against a higher pier. It has a green hull, red near the waterline, with the upper structures in white. The bow to the right rises a little. The bridge is set about two thirds back and the aft of the ship has a few large crane arms clearly used for hauling in catches from the sea. It's a hot day with a clear blue sky and the water is barely rippled from a gentle breeze in the harbour area.

It's night and we're on a ship in a commercial dock looking across a small, rippled stretch of inky black water to the dockside where a container ship sits in front of a background of cranes and tall lamp post with warm-toned lights casting the area in an orange-gold tone. The long container ship has shipping containers loaded along its deck and on its dark hull we can make out the large letters MSC.

We're in a fjord on a bright, sunny, warm day. Our view is from aboard a tender boat, a small boat used to ferry passengers from cruise ships to land and back again, and we're sitting up on top so we've got uninterrupted views across the flat surface of the water. We're looking back to the cruise ship that we've recently departed from. It's all in white and facing slightly towards us with its prow angled over our right shoulder. A split around the ridge of the prow shows off the area in which there is a promenade deck wrapping around the ship and down the left side as we look we can see lifeboats mounted at the same height. The bridge with its wide wings at the upper front of the ship resembles a visor and the overall look is a little like a great, white, metal dolphin or whale on the water. To the left, just beside the ship are two more tender boats, white and orange, small in scale against the ship. To the right, further back, there is another cruise ship; a smaller white one pointing to the left, with a pale orange funnel. The background under the deep blue sky and puffy white clouds comprises of steep rising hills, mostly green with grass and trees, with some more mountainous rises to the rear and some houses visible near the fjord shoreline to the left and right.

We're on one side of a wide stretch of calm water, looking across to a city skyline of skyscrapers on the distant shore backed by a more distant range of hills. It's a bright day with a little cloud and haziness in the air so the sky appears pale and the landscape over the water is similarly faint. Our focus is on a reasonably small car and passenger ferry passing to the left in the middle distance. The vessel has white upper decks over a hull that might once have been a deep blue but is now closer to a slate colour with lots of signs of neglect in the form of scratched paintwork and rust stains. The main decks are bunched in the centre of the ferry and there are four of them, tapering slightly towards a small bridge on the very top, and each with some open deck spots for passengers to enjoy the view. We can see a handful of people in gaps on the decks but more are gathered towards the aft behind a gap where the red container on a truck stands out for its colour.

It's the evening, with the sun approaching sunset somewhere to the right and lending what we can see of the sky at the top of the view a pale golden colour. We're on a ship balcony and looking down and across a wide stretch of water with some low land on the horizon near the top of view. At this time of the day the water has taken on an inky blue colour with rippled shadows of black. A single vessel is on the water heading away from us but cutting across the view from right to left, leaving a foaming churn in its wake. The vessel is unusual in that it is shaped like a long rectangle - about twenty metres long - with a very low topsides of no more than a metre above the waterline. A small superstructure bridge is at the aft of the odd-looking ship. The open space of the flat deck is empty except for two people in life jackets who are standing towards the front.

We're at a high elevation on a cruise ship looking across a short stretch of water to another berth on the outskirts of a city. It's a cloudy day and the water is flat. The landscape behind the berth consists of a line of trees partly covering some brick buildings behind with a road bridge passing behind that and over the water that continues to the left out of view. Docked at the berth is an old ocean liner. It's long with a black hull over a thin band of red just above the water level. The deck structures are white and only a few decks high with porthole windows on the lowest and larger windows above. A promenade deck space is on the uppermost of these. A flat bridge forms the front of the upper deck area and is set about a third of the way back from the straight prow.
