The Eagle, with sailers all up on on the spars. The rain had cleared and the sails are coming out.

The Eagle, and the Godspeed. The Godspeed is a replica ship, and I’m just gobsmacked to think of being on a ship like that in the 1600s coming across the Atlantic.

The Coast Guard got this AMAZING photo of the #Sail250 Virginia Parade of Sail into Norfolk on the Elizabeth River! I circled the Schooner Virginia, which was 3rd in the parade after the Coast Guard Eagle & the Godspeed. I love that the colorful Harbor 20’s from Sail Nauticus came out to join us.

Spanning the width of the Elizabeth River, Tall Ships flanked by small boats. In front is “America’s Tall Ship,” the USCGC training ship Eagle, followed by Godspeed (a replica of the original that was one of 3 ships that sailed from England in 1606–1607 that led to the founding of Jamestown). The Schooner “Virginia” is circled in red, itself a replica of a 1916 ship. Many more ships are in line behind those, and off to the right is a group of small sailboats with colorful sails that came out to meet the parade. My heart is so full, and I’m grateful to the Coast Guard for capturing this image.
