Well, the new #takahe population in the Greenstone Valley (near Queenstown) isn’t hanging around: we found 5 nests this week. We released 9 pairs in August, and 6 subadults last month. #conservation #rails

Great to get into the Murchison Mountains to survey for #takahe last week. Every 3-4 years we do a foot survey to estimate numbers. We'll know results soon, but initial signs are promising, with many areas having higher numbers than in previous years. #conservation #rails
