Kodi’s #psychiatry fact of the day: if you’re trying to change your sleep schedule - move your wake up time, not the time you go to bed Trying to go to bed earlier usually results in lying in bed awake and frustrated. Change wake up time, and the bedtime will shift. #insomnia

Kodi’s #psychiatry fact of the day: The natural history of #ADHD is that obvious hyperactive symptoms tend to wane with age but inattentive symptoms persist.

Kodi’s #psychiatry fact of the day: antipsychotics are not only used for psychotic disorders! They’re also used for bipolar disorder, sometimes PTSD, to augment SSRIs for depression & OCD, and more. Don’t assume a patient’s diagnosis based on an antipsychotic on the med list.

Kodi’s #psychiatry fact of the day: If you see a patient on an unusually high dose of an SSRI, it’s probably for OCD. These patients often require much higher doses than what we use for depression or anxiety.

Kodi’s #psychiatry fact of the day: selegiline is a MAO-I anti-depressant. You usually need a tyramine restricted diet with this medication class, but the lowest dose selegiline patch (6 mg/day) doesn’t require any special diet.

Kodi’s #psychiatry fact of the day: antipsychotic medications with strong dopaminergic blockage (eg, risperidone) can cause hyperprolactinemia (remember the tubuloinfundibular pathway)! Adding the partial dopamine agonist aripiprazole can often resolve this.

#Alkomat w sejmie - nareszcie.
