Juror who held out for murder conviction in Lindsay Clancy case breaks silence

Michael Desronvil, the lone juror who voted to convict Lindsay Clancy of murder in the high-profile Massachusetts case involving the deaths of her three children, has issued his first public statement. Desronvil, speaking through his lawyer Edward Paltzik on the social media platform X, said he had no doubts about Clancy's guilt and denied claims by the jury foreperson that he admitted to having reasonable doubt but wanted to convict anyway. The jury deadlocked 11-1 in favor of acquittal on grounds of not criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis, leading the judge to declare a mistrial on September 4. Prosecutors had argued Clancy knew what she was doing when she strangled her children in 2023 before attempting to take her own life. The Plymouth County district attorney has not yet announced whether he will retry the case. Since the trial ended, Desronvil has faced intense public scrutiny and backlash. Reports revealed he had a restraining order against him during jury selection, was facing eviction over more than $12,000 in unpaid rent, and had been accused of domestic violence in 2021, though that charge was dismissed. His stance has drawn support from some conservative commentators, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has offered him asylum if he feels harassed. A fundraiser for Desronvil's legal and security costs has raised over $289,000. His lawyer says he is currently in an undisclosed secure location in rural northern New England and will not be giving interviews.
