Looking at the plenary schedule of #pearc26 (I'm flying out tomorrow), and maybe I'm unusual, but, uh, I very much do *not* want this. What I want is a version of PyTorch that's intuitive to use, or at least has documentation that doesn't assume you've already taken a full course in gradient descent

Science Gateways in the AI/Agentic Era
Scientists are hungry for AI tools and techniques to provide new ways to tackle scientific problems. These techniques offer opportunities to streamline workflows, introduce new optimizations into current solution methods, and engage creatively with existing problems. Furthermore, the capabilities of AI techniques and tools are evolving at a rapid pace. In this session we explore the architectural and operational evolution of Science Gateways from simple web interfaces to computing systems into dynamic platforms where autonomous AI agents interact with cyberinfrastructure on behalf of domain researchers. Traditional science gateways democratized high-performance computing (HPC) by replacing complex command-line interfaces and batch schedulers with intuitive web portals. Now, AI agents hosted on science gateways can place powerful AI techniques in the hands of domain researchers. AI agents can be used both to enhance the science gateway user experience, by providing chatbot assistants that guide users on the gateway, and to assist users in building, instrumenting, and executing new workflows capable of performing reproducible research. In both cases, these agents can provide a force multiplier that enables astonishing progress but also presents risks and challenges. In this session we briefly survey work that AI is enabling in domain science, and the needs that AI can meet with science gateway integration. We will explore the practice of building and sustaining these powerful agentic systems into science gateways, examining topics such as securing programmable APIs against agent hallucination, designing provenance-aware infrastructure for AI-driven workflows, and evaluating the operational outcomes of LLMs in research computing environments.
