A farewell to autumn as we move on, the final splashes of colour now fading in the woods. This was a perfectly still morning, no haste or pressure, no noise but the rush and bubble of water. I stayed long after I'd taken the shot, just watching and listening and breathing it all in. #peakdistrict

The image is of an autumnal wooded valley, with trees on both sides and a small river with waterfalls running from the centre of the image to the bottom left. There are a few yellow leaves left on the trees and orange fallen leaves on the ground. There is a slight mist hanging over the trees and the image feels ethereal (I hope!).

Taken with a telephoto lens for a high up perspective, the image captures a small vignette of the wider landscape. At the bottom of the square frame is some swirling mist drifting across the landscape. Above, autumnal colours seemingly bursting forth from every part of the image, bathed in early morning light. The main focal point is one tree that stands apart from the others and a barn that sits nearby. A quintessential depiction of the Peaks, once again the Hope Valley did not disappoint.

The #peakdistrict village of Hathersage yesterday, as the snow fell softly and the lights twinkled. Only a few hardy souls were out, and me in my wellies. Hathersage has strong associations with Charlotte Bronte, and The George Inn (pictured here) is featured in her classic novel ‘Jane Eyre’.
