Work in progress, it's a #wildflower #meadow with a #red-tailed #bumblebee and other #insects. Commission for a seed packet design. I do each flower species in turn, and am about to start on the corn marigolds now. #sciart #packagingdesign #botanicalillustration #nature #wildlife #natureart

Me adding hairs to the abdomen of a red-tailed bumblebee, #bombus lapidarius. It's flying over a meadow. All of the leaves and grass are painted in,most of the flowers are still unpainted white paper. The mayweeds (white daisy like flowers with yellow centres) are completed. My handle holding a paintbrush is on the bottom right of the photo. Other insects like honey bees abd a tiny common blue butterfly are up in the sky above the wildflower meadow. The unpainted poppy and two tall corn cockles break the horizon line. The grass fades out gradually and blends with the cobalt blue watercolour sky.

Me painting details of leaves onto a watercolour landscape. It looks washed out as the detail isn't in yet. The flowers are all still white spaces, awaiting their colour. The numerous green leaves and blades of grass give the field texture. The grass fades out and blends into the cobalt blue sky. A bumblebee and several other insects are also waiting for colour to be added. You can see my hand holding a paintbrush in the bottom right corner of the photo of the work in progress.

This is the #Adonisblue #Polyommatus bellargus #butterfly. The #insect is an incredible glowing blue, and seeing them in life (in France) was an amazing treat. This #sciart #naturalscienceillustration was completed for a #packagingdesign on chinaware
