Me (closer plane) and @peacewind.aero (lead plane) flying the DHC-1 Chipmunks back to the Canadian Aviation Museum after a wild trip to #Oshkosh #AirVenture. Thanks to Matt in the support plane for the photos!

@astrokatie.com & I have successfully flown both of the Canadian Aviation Museum Chipmunks into #Oshkosh! It was HOT & we had to divert around a whole bunch of Chicago weather, but it was SO much fun! If you’re here, our planes (& possibly us) will be at the IAC pavilion until Thursday. Come say hi!

Logged my 2000th hour piloting Mooneys this week, and it couldn't have been better--on the way to #Oshkosh with @astrokatie.com and @peacewind.aero aboard. Among other things, we watched a Blue Angels air show *from above* on approach into Milwaukee!

How could an incredible #Oshkosh #AirVenture week get EVEN BETTER? With a stop at the Canadian Aviation Museum in Windsor, Ontario on the way home w/ @astrokatie.com and @peacewind.aero for a sunset open-cockpit warbird ride in an RCAF Chipmunk! (Katie flew, and I back-seated and took pix.)
Lisa & Katie standing in front of the wing beside another RCAF Chipmunk at the museum. This one is in a hangar and undergoing maintenance. Parts of other aircraft are visible in the background.
The sun is hiding behind a wispy cloud line as it's setting in the distance beyond the Detroit skyline. The Detroit River is visible forward of our wing as it passes downtown and serves as the international border between the United States and Canada. We're flying about 1000 feet above the Canadian side of the river.
The sun is still trying to hide behind a wispy cloud line off in the distance, to the left of the Detroit skyline, which is visible above our left wingtip. The full maple-leaf RCAF roundel (insignia) is visible on the wing, which is yellow. We're flying about 1000 feet above the city of Windsor and returning to the airport.
Turning final for a landing at Windsor International Airport in Ontario. A runway is visible on the far right, and a row of lights to the left of it indicates our vertical position relative to a standard approach glide slope. Katie's visible and doing the flying from the front cockpit, behind a small windshield, and she's wearing a headset and backwards baseball cap. The lower part of the picture is the top of instrument panel in the rear cockpit, where I'm riding.

I'm really enjoying both the engagement and connectivity I'm getting here on Bluesky. I'm going to post more of my photography and scale modeling content here moving forward. Here, I'm going to start a thread of some of my favorite shots from EAA AirVenture 2024: #avgeek #EAAAirVenture #Oshkosh
The four jet USAF Heritage Flight, from EAA AirVenture 2024, Oshkosh, WI.
