Estelle Massey Osborne (b. #OTD in 1901) was a trailblazing Black nurse, educator & #civilrights activist who dedicated her career to dismantling racial barriers in the nursing profession. First Black nurse to earn a master's degree in #nursing education (Columbia, 1931). #medsky #WomenInSTEM
A black-and-white photo of Estelle Massey Osborne (1901–1981), a trailblazing Black nurse and educator. She stands with her body angled slightly to the right, looking toward the camera with a warm, confident smile. Her dark hair is styled in an elegant, structured updo. She wears a textured, dark-patterned floral jacket or dress with a wide collar, adorned with a large, decorative floral corsage pinned to her left lapel. The corsage features light-colored flowers, dark leaves, and several long, trailing ribbons. She is also wearing ornate, sparkling cluster earrings. The background is simple, showing a light-colored wall with vertical wood paneling or door frames, suggesting a formal indoor setting. The lighting is bright and direct, casting a soft shadow behind her. The overall mood is one of dignity and celebration, capturing a woman who broke racial barriers as the first Black nurse to earn a master’s degree and a leader in integrating the US nursing profession.

Legendary Welsh war nurse Betsi Cadwaladr was born 237 years ago today. She amassed a small fortune during her globe-trotting sea adventures, then lost it all, served with honor in the Crimean War, and ended her days in abject poverty. tinyurl.com/3hs3zdmk #WomenInSTEM #Nursing #MedSky

On a winter’s night in 1854, two steel-willed women regarded each other with mutual dislike across a desk located on a scrap of misery-soaked land. Two more different people there could not have been:...

Jane Delano was a key architect of organized, professional #nursing in the US. + Superintendent, US Army Nurse Corps (1909-12) + Oversaw the mobilization of 20,000+ US nurses for duty during #WWI + Founder, American Red Cross Nursing Service She was born #OTD in 1862. #WomensHistoryMonth #WHM
A formal oil portrait painting of Jane Arminda Delano (1862–1919), the pioneering American nurse and founder of the American Red Cross Nursing Service, framed in an ornate gold frame. Painted in a realistic, classical style (signed "SHELSON" in the upper left corner), the artwork depicts her standing full-length against a dark, subdued background. She wears the traditional early 20th-century American Red Cross nurse uniform: a crisp white long dress with long sleeves and a high collar, cinched at the waist with a white belt, and a distinctive white nurse's cap featuring a red cross emblem at the front. Over her shoulders is a long, flowing dark navy or black cape lined in red, fastened at the neck with a prominent Red Cross insignia brooch. Her expression is calm, dignified, and authoritative, with light eyes gazing directly forward, conveying strength, compassion, and leadership. The overall tone is somber yet reverent, with rich dark shadows and warm highlights emphasizing her role as a key figure in professionalizing nursing, mobilizing thousands of nurses during World War I, and establishing organized disaster relief nursing in the United States.

It's not just nursing; they're going after Physical Therapy. These degrees take years to earn, and they want to cap higher education loans for these professions. Spread this far and wide so Trumpers get angry too. #nursing #physicaltherapy

grocerystorefamous (kim dexter) - Trumps Department of Education just said nursing is no no longer a professional degree. Let's be real is about the fact that the field is mostly women and minorities. [pic of nurses]

Just got back from LA General Medical Center and learned that they are incorporating whether the patient is "eligible for the #3WishesProgram" during #nursing presentations of the A-F Bundle during #ICU rounds. How cool is that? #Humanism in the #ICU is so important.
