Are you funded by #NIH, #NSF or #CDC? Please post any letters or communications you’ve received from these agencies or HHS about restrictions on grant funding, publications etc. I want to catalog all of them for the record. #medsky #episky

#NIH is hanging by a thread. The #CDC has been decimated. #RFK Jr. and Russell #Vought are psychopaths--I don't say this frivolously--they are cold, calculating, inflicting violence on millions through public policy. It is where we are right now. These men are not normal. 1/

Yaaas! Good news on a Sunday! The senate moves to temporarily ban the OMB proposal that would allow political appointees in charge of approving federal grants, especially #NIH grants. Recall that the OMB rule yielded 500k comments, 95% of them against it. 🧪 www.politico.com/news/202….

On changes to #NIH indirect rates, there is a law in place that prohibits NIH from making such changes without the approval of Congress. See Division D, Title II Section 224 of The Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (Public Law No: 118-47) grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

How bad will it be? Catastrophic. Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come. But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget. Speak up now before it is too late. (inflation adjusted $-s below)
NSF, NASA and NIH budgets per year, inflation adjusted from 2000-2025 along with the proposed cuts. NSF includes research component only. Massive cuts across all sectors, well below support spanning 25 years.

The general vibe we are getting across #NIH institutes is deeply bleak — that the agency is nearly, if not already dead. Top people are leaving or have left. Nearly everyone's looking for other jobs. People still care about what NIH was, but are growing resigned to its death. 1/

Friends, I am at a loss of words for how devastating it would be to lose the entire intramural #NIH program. Some of the biggest medical and scientific breakthroughs have come from scientists in the NIH Intramural program. #SaveTheNIH 🧬🧪 🖥️ 🧠 www.science.org/content/a….
