Psusennes I of Egypt’s 21st Dynasty was buried at Tanis in a rare intact tomb. Found in 1940 with a silver coffin and gold mask, its discovery was overshadowed by World War II. At the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo Egypt πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¬ #MondayVibes #MuseumMonday

Visit little museums. They are full of unanticipated delights, like silver spoons with handles that look like a swan’s head and neck. This was buried during the mid to late fifth century in a hoard by the gate of Durovernum Cantiacorum, or Canterbury. My πŸ“·, Canterbury #Roman Museum. #MuseumMonday
Two silver spoons sit on a museum shelf, the one behind out of focus. The one in the foreground has a large, slightly pointed bowl but instead of a straight handle, has an S-shaped handle like the neck of a bird, ending in a decorative head resembling a swan or a duck, complete with texture reminiscent of feathers, a glaring eye, and a flat round bill.

Slightly manic mosaic for Monday morning. Just look at this wonderfully weird wolf wth her cheery smile as she protects Romulus & Remus. Delighted to find this in the Ancient Worlds section of Leeds Museum. She's from Aldborough so a quirky bit of Roman Yorkshire history. #MosaicMonday #MuseumMonday
Photo of a Roman mosaic. The background is beige, there's a tree on the left with a few orange leaves. In the centre is a creature that looks like a cat's head, with pointy ears; a horse's body/legs and a manic toothy grin under a massive round nose. The cat/wolf is grey with two small orange figures with their bavk to the viewer crouching beneath her. There are diamond shapes in the border around the picture.

A snapshot of the #palaeontology galleries of the National Museum of Natural History of France, in Paris for this #MuseumMonday. The Galerie d'paléontologie et d'anatomie comparée dates back to 1898 & the Universal Exhibition of 1900. 🧡 1/
