Taken tonight with @ucalgary.bsky.social’s Rothney Astrophysical Observatory’s 50 cm Kaylie Green Memorial Telescope of Cold War Baker-Nunn design. This very wide angle view captured the Andromeda #Galaxy, M31 and its two satellite galaxies, M32 & 110 as well as a bright #meteor. #astronomy

I caught this sporadic #meteor overnight while doing my star trails sequence. It is passing through the constellation of Crater at 04:25 UT. Sporadic meteors occur at random and can be seen in any part of the sky. They are not associated with any named shower. #Astronomy #Astrophotography
A green and orange sporadic meteor passing through the constellation of Crater at 04:25 UT on 8 January 2025. There is a rooftop in the foreground.

Unusually long meteor at 10:40pm last night, August 5, 2026 from Crestone, Colorado USA. The Perseid meteor shower is underway now and only getting better as we head for peak next Wed. #astronomy #astrophotography #meteor #perseids
A photo of the night sky with a meteor spanning 2/3ds of the frame top to bottom. The Milky Way is rising almost vertically (tilted slightly left) from the center. At the base of the Milky is the glow of lights from Alamosa, Colorado. The core of the Milky Way is brilliant above the Alamosa lights. The meteor is on the right of the Milky Way, also almost vertical but angling toward the left. The tail of the meteor is green, turning white and then pink toward the head.
