Remembering the last men excuted for homosexual acts in France (1750), and in Britain (1835). Bruno Lenoir, Jean Diot, James Pratt, John Smith. Lest we forget. Interestingly, both books were published this year: one a novel by a historian, the other a non-fiction by a gay MP #lgbthistory #lgbtbooks

Mary's was a leather bar opened by Joe Anthony in Houston in 1970. Mary's "quickly became known as a place where anyone was welcome: gays, lesbians, punk musicians, writers, hippies, and bohemians all intermingled." --Ivan Guzman (Texas Monthly). #houstonhistory #lgbthistory #leatherbars
